Stay comfortably with us
Our fishing lodge is situated amid the blueberry heather down by the river mouth, partially secluded by pine and birch woods, but with a fantastic view to the Barsnesfjord, one of the Sognefjord’s many arms. The lodge is built on the grounds of Årøy Gård (Årøy Estate), well away from traffic and people, thus letting you enjoy peace and tranquility.
The lodge has four double bedrooms – two in each end – with kitchen, dining room, sitting room and two terraces in between, one of which is covered. The staff stay in the annex beside the main buliding.
Originally built in 1966, in a long and gradual shape, with large windows toward the river and fjord, the lodge has been totally renovated in recent years, from 2011 to 2015. Inside, the walls ooze with angling history, lined with game fishing photographs from the last 100 years.
Each day starts with a classic Norwegian breakfast, served in the dining room by our hostess. Lunch is the main meal of the day and consists of three courses based on the best seasonal indredients, and as many as possible locally sourced. For instance fish from the fjord, the river, or Hafslovatnet lake, kid and lamb from Sogn, or venison from our own forest to name a few. Supper is a lighter meal, served at a time our guests chooses. Lunch, however, is served at a given time.
Årøy Gård and the Årøy River is located only 25 minutes away from Sogndal Airport Haukåsen. There are four daily flights to and from Oslo and two from Bergen. We will gladly assist you with transfers to and from the airport.
